Well…..I’m sorry I haven’t posted anything for a few weeks but I’ve been on holiday to France for a couple of weeks. We drove over in the car to an area in the Dordogne myself, Mark and my daughters Isabella and Scarlett. My son Olly and his girlfriend also joined us for a week in the middle of the holiday.
I do like to holiday in France, I not only like the food and the wine of course but I like the culture. I didn’t see any youths out binge drinking or other such trouble. Their sense of community is one which I would like to see grown over here, also the family unit is cherished and it’s just a way of life how they all do things together.
Eating together is a big event everyday, I’m a strong believer in that myself and although I find it difficult to do a lot of the time with the children as they want their tea as they come in from school, I do my best to sit down and eat with Mark every night and just catch up on the events of the day.
Another thing that struck me as we travelled over there by car, was how good their infrastructure was. Not only are the roads excellent and constantly maintained, but their rail service is also good.
We travelled back by car but on the train – what a good idea and how well organised it was. No hold ups, on time and breakfast provided on arrival with no waiting and hot drinks all round.
Here is a picture of me with Mark and my girls out having dinner one night in a typically French Restaurant which is family owned and run.
